This new album rules. You’ll probably remember this fella from the last record of his I worked (which was a double album that only came out this past September!!), but this is ALREADY a BRAND NEW FULL LENGTH ALBUM!! Wha?!? And honestly, I think I dig it even more?! It has a more cohesive vibe and some really catchy jams and well as some interesting experimentation type stuff. A recap about who this sweetie is, you’ll remember this part from last time: I looooove this guy and this record – Joey is an old pal of mine, from back in the days when he fronted the magically wonderful indie-pop band Pomegranates. (Remember them?? They used to sleep on my floor in NYC all the time, ahh very fond memories!!) Well, Poms parted ways a few years ago, but Joey’s never stopped making music – lately he’s been doing it under this moniker with an intentional misspelling (that does NOT say “Joseph”, it’s “Joesph” – don’t let autocorrect tell you otherwise!! BUT, it is still pronounced like the regular “Joseph” would be – thanks to Matt from WLFR for bringing that up!) Once again, this album brings together a pretty wide variety of influences combining into something I just know you’re gonna love! If you’re still playing the album from last fall, that is SO GREAT and thank you so much(!!!), but consider switching over to this one now!

JOEY JOESPH
THE LITTLE PRINCE OF ROCK N ROLL
Eyebrow Palace
On Joey Joesph’s eleventh album, he’s working through some things. His frustration with the state of the music industry, his relationship with his dad (or lack of one), fear of rejection, being driven by creativity in a capitalist world… but it’s not all bad. The Little Prince of Rock n Roll is also a celebration of the joy of making art, whether with collaborators or alone.
The narrator of “Creature Feature” delights in ridiculous 80s horror tropes as he sings about finding a camcorder and making a movie with his friends. And that is a fair summation of the spirit of the new record from Joey Joesph. It is possible for many things to be true at once. We can be hurting, angry, and conflicted, and still have a lot of fun.
Multi-instrumentalist, home-recording enthusiast, public access personality, DIY dreamboat… Joey Joesph wears many hats and looks pretty good in all of them. He’s been releasing self-produced records, often in the form of concept albums ranging from dark disco to Cronenbergian post-punk, since 2014 to consistent critical acclaim. Joey was named Cincinnati’s “New Artist of the Year” of 2017, and in August 2020 he released his entirely self-recorded cover of the legendary Beach Boys album, Smile.
In 2006 he co-founded the indie psych-pop quartet, Pomegranates, who released 3 EPs and 5 full-lengths before their retirement in 2015. More recently, Joey has started a new project with long time friend and illustrator, Jack Sjogren, called JJ & The Mood (Trailing Twelve Records). Their first single, “How Many Times,” was played heavily on KCRW, and was dubbed their “Today’s Top Tune” of June 3, 2022.
In September 2023, Joey released Triple Fantasy and Taking It Easy, his 9th and 10th solo albums respectively, together as a double LP on 180g gold vinyl via his own Eyebrow Palace Records. This album comes close on its heels, a follow-up that stands as its own celebration of, and wrestling match with, the indomitable spirit of creativity.
**note the intentional misspelling: second word is JOESPH, not JOSEPH!**
