TUFT – LOOK LOOK is at Top 200 Radio now!!!

I’ve been sitting on this TUFT album for quite a while now, and I’m SO excited it’s finally getting out into the world. Honestly it was one of the best albums I heard in 2015, but I couldn’t tell you that back then because it didn’t come out in 2015!! I can’t wait to hear about how much you love it, now, finally. (BTW, that’s spelled in all caps, not just because that’s how I do it in these posts—their name is TUFT)! KCRW is already on board, in case you’re waiting for somebody else to tell you how great this is! There’s a chance you may have heard of this band before, especially if you’re from around LA/the West Coast/been hanging out with me, back when they were called Hi Ho Silver Oh. Or maybe you even recognize a couple of their/their members’ videos from FunnyOrDie, both music videos and comedy ones, like this one featuring a couple band members with DERRICK Comedy (yep, Donald Glover’s group—in fact it was through DERRICK member/Thomas Jefferson impersonator/author/wonderful human DC Pierson that I first met these guys; longtime Band Mom followers might remember HHSO’s song on this mixtape I worked for DC back in 2010!!). Anyway all that stuff’s great and should give you some context, but that’s old stuff, there’s all new stuff to marvel at now!! They’re also out on tour for a bit now (dates below), so check to see if they’re coming to your town, I’d love to hook you up with tix/interviews/etc! We’re a week in to this one and most stations I’m in touch with should have gotten a hard copy, so no more excuses about not getting around to it—this record is seriously a super special one and it deserves to be heard by EVERYONE!!

LOOK LOOK

Self-Released

The most unexpected thing happened when Casey Trela packed up his car in North Carolina heading west for Los Angeles. He turned on the radio and heard himself. It was not music he had written or recorded, yet still he knew it to be his own. He heard his voice and the hum of his guitar and recognized them as immediately as he would his own reflection. He changed the station only to find another mysterious song of his own creation. Song after song poured from the speakers; song after song his own.

When Casey grew tired of his own thoughts he picked up a mustachioed hitchhiker, Kevin Manwarren, headed for Oklahoma. The radio remained audible though Casey would not let on the secret of the music’s origin. Instead, after many miles of silence, Kevin spoke up. He said, “You’ll think me mad – I think me mad – but I swear that is me playing bass. In this song. In all these songs. I don’t know how, but it is me.” Of course, Casey did not think him mad. “I am just as certain it is you.” Oklahoma came and went, Kevin stayed with Casey.

At a truck stop in the middle of who-knows-where they met Roxy Radulescu, and immediately knew she was destined to join them. She was less certain, at least at first. But upon hearing a single verse emanate from Casey’s automobile she plucked her personal belongings from the cab and abandoned the 18-wheel big rig she rode in on, joining them on their fateful journey.

The deejay called them TUFT, and so they were, ever more.
