hey buddies!
i’m so excited to announce my FIRST OFFICIAL BAND MOM ADD!!
Hidden People perfectly exemplify what i’m going for with the band mom spirit – in that they’re friends i’m psyched to help out, and they’re ultra-indie (read: you probably haven’t heard of them yet, but that of course doesn’t mean they’re not great!)…they’re a little further toward the punk-rock end of the spectrum than the twee pop and anti-folk i usually gravitate toward, but you guys, you should know by now that i have eclectic taste. mostly i like things that are Good, and Hidden People’s energy and exhuberance put them into that category with no problem. check it out!!

HIDDEN PEOPLE
HORMONES EP
self-released
Vocalist Dana Young, drummer Otto Van Horn, and bassist Chuck Meyer combine the simple rhythms and chord structures of late 70’s punk with new wave textures and melodic hooks on the 5 tracks of Hormones. With one foot in the rich past of New York post-punk and the other in some alternate reality of modern pop, this EP is the culmination of a year of evolution in Hidden People’s sound. Turning their backs on guitars, they developed an aggressive and full rhythm section providing a solid, hook-driven foundation for rich, high-energy vocal and keyboard melodies.
The Brooklyn band’s music has been compared to X-Ray Spex, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sleater-Kinney, Rainer Maria, and early Blondie. The songs are both rough and sweet, like a lamb licking your hand in the middle of a sandstorm.
